Dr Ma is a highly qualified neurologist with extensive experience in neurology and internal medicine in Australia and Hong Kong for more than 20 years.  Her special interests include stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, headache, functional neurological disorder and general neurology.  She is a neurologist in Royal Melbourne Hospital, Delmont Private Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospital.

Dr Ma completed her movement disorders fellowship in Westmead Hospital in Sydney.  She had extensive exposure to advance management on Parkinson’s disease, tremor, dystonia and spasticity, including deep brain stimulation, apomorphine injection, Duodopa transjejunal infusion and device assisted botulinum toxin injection.  She was an associate Consultant and the movement disorder in-charge in one of major tertiary centers serving more than 1.2 million people in Hong Kong.  Dr Ma was appointed as an honorary clinical Associated Professor in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017. She was also appointed as a coordinator in the licensing medical exam by the Hong Kong Medical Council and the Hong Kong College of Physicians.  She was appointed as a Consultant in the Hong Kong Parkinson’s Disease Association.

 

Dr Ma returned to Australia in 2021 and joined the multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology team in Royal Melbourne Hospital.  She also participates in acute stroke services throughout pre-hospital program namely the Mobile Stroke Unit, in-hospital stroke care and outpatient clinic support in RMH. She has active involvement in various international stroke research projects.

 

Dr Ma is determined to provide comprehensive neurological care with collaborative approach to coordinate and individualized care plan for her patients by liaising with GPs, patients, their families, relevant specialists and allied health professionals.  She is an expertise on providing botulinum toxin injection for migraine, hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, cervical dystonia, spasticity and other relevant neurological disorders.

 

Dr Ma is active in promoting public health awareness on varies neurological diseases.  She delivered updated stroke treatment in Victoria in the Health Awareness Day 2023 organized by the Chinese Cancer & Chronic Illness Society of Victoria.  She has been interviewed by SBS Cantonese channel on various neurology topics including stroke, dementia, headache and functional neurological disorder.
